New Ski Area To Be Built in Russia

New ski area under construction in North Caucasian Republic of North Ossetia
The ski centre, located in an area known as the Kurtat Gorge, will be built in two stages, the first this year and in to 2018, the second from 2019-2021.

With an overall price tag of “over 1 billion roubles” (about 16 million Euros) the centre will feature a 50 room hotel, restaurant, café with terrace, conference hall, spa, children's room and a barber shop and aims to attract 38,600 visitors per year.
The ski facilities have not been detailed other than a 1.5km long gondola with a capacity of 1,200 skiers per hour along with other lifts to serve the ski runs.

The Russian domestic ski market at the country’s existing resorts is reported to be booming as Russians who formerly travelled to Western Europe follow President Putin’s call to spend in their own country and also face travel restrictions and higher cost due to the low value of the rouble when travelling internationally.
