SnowKidz reaches a huge mile stone
In 2009 Ski Club Oberstdorf became the first registered SnowKidz Organiser. Now, 10 years later, the 500th SnowKidz Organiser and incidentally the 54th country has been confirmed with the registration of the Mongolian Ski Federation.
Over the course of 10 years SnowKidz has seen an incredible effort from all its Organisers. At the time of writing this article 3’827 events and actions have taken place. With such a massive push, FIS has been more than happy to support the events. To date over 3.4 tonnes of materials has been shipped to Organisers, documents such CookBooks which help plan, stage and run events have been downloaded more than 2’000 times and over 250’000CHF of prize money has been awarded through the SnowKidz Award.
FIS President Gian Franco Kasper commented “Whilst World Snow Day brings children to the snow for one day SnowKidz events allow them to stay engaged all season long. Well done to all the Organisers one such a big effort and my congratulations on reaching 500. ”
Looking ahead, SnowKidz shows no signs of slowing down. The 2020 SnowKidz Award will take place at the end of the northern hemisphere season, plans are already underway to expand the offering in the SnowKidz Organiser Care Packages and special project code named “Play” will be taking place next season. FIS looks forward to continuing to work with all 500 Organisers and continuing the positive impact of SnowKidz.
