2 Guinness World Records Taken in 1 Day by Ski Dubai

World Records with a lot of heart
Skiers at the ski Dunai indoor snow centre took two world records in one day on Sunday, 8th October 2017. The records were set to help raise awareness for visually impaired and disabled athletes in Dubai.

Firstly 12 visually impaired skiers broke the distance skied in one hour record for blind or blindfolded skiers, reaching 25.1 km between them, then a group of over 100 broke the greatest distance skied in an indoor ski centre in eight hours Guinness World Records title. Altogether the participants, who included Ski Dubai’s Sponsored Athletes team and children from seven local schools skied 302.3 km.

Commenting on the achievement, Mohammad El Etri, General Manager of Ski Dubai said: “We are very proud to have successfully completed two Guinness World Records attempts, as part of our efforts to raise awareness for visually impaired and disabled athletes. At Ski Dubai, we want create great moments for everyone, every day and being able to provide state-of-the-art facilities and activities for everyone is essential. With this in mind, and in line with Dubai’s initiative to becoming a disabled-friendly city by 2020, we have ensured that our ski resort caters for all visitors with disabilities. Our visitor’s needs are our priority and we will continue to put these at the forefront of all our offerings.”

Patrick Thorne, also known as the Snow Hunter, is an industry expert in all technical developments in snow sports. In addition to his work Patrick is also father and knows the importance and fun of kids on snow.
