Bringing children to the snow in Sweden

FIS SnowKidz Organisers - Everyone on Snow

Even with cold climates and plenty of snow, some countries still find it a challenge to bring children to the snow. One such country is Sweden. But not for long, thanks to the initiative “Everyone on Snow”.

Everyone on Snow – or in Swedish - Alla på snö - is a multi-stage event developed by the Swedish Ski Association.

Event Organisers construct a series of small events throughout Sweden for people to try snow sports. Ski and snowboard instructors from local resorts provide participants free alpine, snowboarding and cross-country lessons. Additionally, discounted ski passes are provided for children up to the age of 14. In some locations, free product demonstrations are hosted by local suppliers as well as free prizes, giveaways and live music or a DJ. To date, events have taken place in major cities including Stockholm and Ornskoldsvik. This strategic move has allowed children in metropolitan environments to explore, enjoy and experience the joy of snow sports.

Since the inception of the Bring Children to the Snow campaign “Everyone on Snow” has been working with both the World Snow Day and FIS SnowKidz programmes. On World Snow Day the “Everyone on Snow” season began with 23 locations and more than 5,000 participants. To continue the motivation, smaller events are then staged until April. These events are partnered with FIS SnowKidz as it allows for events to take place at any time.
