Changing the Swiss snow sports landscape

Status update on gosnow.ch
With the test launch last season, gosnow.ch has stirred the snow sports atmosphere is Switzerland. A concept directly from the Swiss Federal government and key stakeholders in the Swiss snow sports industry, program connects schools with ski resorts in Switzerland to help arrange school snow sports camps. The platform offers special prices for the schools as well as other services. FIS Newsflash took a moment to catch up with the project coordinator Ole Rauch:

Thanks very much for catching up with us Ole. Firstly, how was your 2015/2016 season?
Last season went really well. We launched on 15th August 2016 and 70 camps were activated. We had about 2000 children participate and feedback from partner such as Swiss-ski was very good.

So the National Ski Association is already involved?
Absolutely. Swiss-Ski have been there from the start and is one of the founding partners. They have also added their Swisscom Snowdays to the project to provide more activities for the children.

So things are going very well. Did you have any major challenges?
The major one was communication. Communication is vital to this project and any project for kids. If we cannot communicate our events/offers then there is no success.

Some people speculated the teachers would object to gosnow.ch because of a concern of litigation. Do you encounter this at all?
Good question and short answer is “no”. We anticipated concern but our end of year survey with the schools showed only 4% had a mild concern. This is really good news moving into next season.

Speaking of next season what are some of the big developments for 2016/2017?
Firstly more communications. We have more editorial content planned in teachers magazines and teachers communication material.

Secondly we will be adding a “comment and rate” feature for the offers from the resorts to the schools. A kind of TripAdvisor for gosnow.ch.

Finally we will be launching “a teacher job portal”. Here in Switzerland we have the J+S program which educates teachers and adults how to conduct sport camps. Over 10’000 teachers are qualified and this system will connect them with schools who need an extra set of hands at their camps.
Thank you very much for your time Ole. We look forward to the next catch up
