Children take over the mountain

Juskila Celebrates 75 Years
One of the biggest and best events to bring children to the snow in Switzerland, Juskila, celebrated its 75-year anniversary last week.

From 2nd – 9th January 2016 over 600 children from all over Switzerland gathered in the ski resort of Lenk. The week- long event saw children try a variety of snow sports activities including alpine skiing, cross country skiing and snowboarding all for free. Over 100 volunteers looked after the children, , most of who return year after year.

To celebrate the 75th year of Juskila, Organisers went one step further and transformed the gathering into an international event. 75 Swiss children who live in 25 different countries were invited to participate in the camp, coming from as far as away as Chile, the Caribbean and New Zealand.

FIS Secretary General Lewis visited Juskila and she commented “This is truly an exceptional event. The special atmosphere amongst the children who are experiencing, exploring and enjoying snowsports with 600 new friends is largely thanks to the dedication of the volunteers, the professional organising team who put together a terrific programme and the host resort of Lenk.. “

Juskila 76th edition will take place from 1st to 8th January 2017.
