Dein Winter, Dein Sport engages sport and industry

The future for snow sports in Germany is bright.
The ‘Dein Winter, Dein Sport’ (Your Winter, Your Sport) summit was held last week in Rottach-Egern (GER), bringing together 400 key stakeholders in the snow sports industry for two days of presentations, meetings and networking.

FIS Council Member Alfons Hoemann and Secretary General Sarah Lewis participated in a panel discussion focusing on getting youngsters active. The key focus of the FIS Bring Children to the Snow campaign, which includes World Snow Day and Snow Kidz, is specifically aimed at having more children participate and be inspired by snow sports.

Several Organisers of current World Snow Day and Snow Kidz events were on hand at the summit as the entire industry agrees that one major step that must be made to ensure the future of snow sports is to get the next generation actively involved and educated with all things involving snow.

“It was a terrific two days with so many facets of the snow industry represented and very engaged in the debates,” said Lewis. “The summit was an excellent chance to interact with so many persons and organisations from the sport, event organisers, tourism, media, industry, technology and the clubs with the common goal tomake skiing and snowboarding successful.”

And almost to underline the success of the event, as participants were leaving Germany, the first major snowfall arrived in the Alps.
