By Patrick Thorne.

Canadian Ice & Snow Specialists CTC are currently working on two major indoor snow centres in China.

The company has now completed more than 100 ice and snow centre projects in Asia in the past 15 years they say, including the design, supply, installation and commissioning of several ice and snow facilities of different sizes.

Zhangjiajie Ice and Snow World will feature a 25,380 sqm cold area including a 9,800 sqm slope with dimensions of 165 X 35m and a slope angle of 8° over a 23.2m vertical.

The facility will also incorporate a slightly smaller tubing area of 7300 sqm with a slightly sleeper slope angle of 14.05m. There will also be a 15,580 sqm snow play area.

The second facility is Changsha Dawangshan Deep Pit Ice and Snow World.

This will feature a slightly larger 27,900 sqm cold area and along with ski slope, tubing and snow play areas there’ll be a 1,173 sqm ice lake.

The 115 X 50m ski slope will have a 5,859 sqm surface area and 7.9° pitch. The tubing area will again have a 10° pitch and cover 3,800 sqm. The snow play area will cover 12,218 sqm
“The Changsha & Zhangjiajie Indoor Ice & Snow Centres are in final stage of design stage and their building foundations are under construction,” said a company spokesperson.
