Finland wins SnowKidz Award

PRESS RELEASE: Finland Triumphs in the 2016 SnowKidz Award

Oberhofen 13th June 2016 – The FIS “Bring Children to Snow” international campaign to engage and encourage the younger generations to winter sports rewarded the recipients of the 4th FIS SnowKidz Award. The top three award winners were decided by the jury from among the eight finalists. The results are as follows:

1. Finland – Snow Moves!
2. Sweden – Everyone on Snow
3. United States of America – National Winter Sports Education Foundation
4. France – Le Ski a Fond
5. Belgium - Kids on Snow Tour
6. Portugal – Ski 4 All
7. Netherlands – Wintersports FUNdays
8. Spain – Bring Children to the Snow Spain

Finland’s victory comes off the back of a 3rd place finish in the 2014 Award. Bring Children to the Snow Coordinator Andrew Cholinski said “ The 4th edition of the Award was the most difficult to date for the judges. The quality of the programs and creative increases each time the Award is run.”

International Olympic Committee Associate Director and SnowKidz Judge Antoine Goetschy added “It is also really great to see that Organisers have taken into consideration migrants, families in needs and kids with disabilities when developing their programs.”

The win by Finland now not only gives them the title of “Best Kids Snow program” for the next two years but also sees them take home 15’000CHF to invest into the project.

Looking ahead FIS can confirm the 5th edition of the Award will be taking place in 2018.
