Iceland ready for first SnowKidz event

The development of the next generation of snow sports enthusiasts is an idea that has been warmly welcomed by the Icelandic Ski Association (ISA).

Over the last 3 years the ISA has staged 3 very successful nationwide World Snow Day actions. Thanks to the cooperation of the ski resorts free lift passes, lessons and equipment is provided to resort attendees on World Snow Day. In 2016/2017 however the ISA will be taking it a step further and staging a warm up event in Icelands capital Reykjavik.

The event will be hosted on the Thursday prior to World Snow Day at the nearby Bláfjöll Resort. Open to all, participants will find live music, free lessons and free warm goodies to warm little hands.

Secretary General of the Icelandic Ski Association Jon Vidar Thorvaldsson said “The FIS Snow Kidz program is a perfect tool for us to bring kids to the snow. World Snow Day has been a big step for us and we want to continue to increase the youngsters in our snow family with a great SnowKidz event”
