Meet the team: Gianluca de Cristofaro

Meet the people helping to bring children to the snow
The Bring Children to the Snow team work tirelessly to support event Organisers with event ideas, materials and communications amongst many other things. One of the team members helping these areas is Bring Children to the Snow Projects Assistant Gianluca de Cristofaro. FIS took a moment to speak with Gianluca and find out his involvement in Bring Children to the Snow.

Thanks for speaking with us Gianluca, tell us a bit about yourself?
I am originally from Milan (ITA) but now spend a lot of time in La Thuile. This is my second home and during the season I am a ski instructor as well as a race coach for children. I have a Masters in Sports Business Management and worked on the La Thuile stop of the Ladies Audi FIS Alpine World Cup tour in 2015/2016.

So you work regularly with children, how do you find it?
Exciting. Kids learn fast, they listen, they are fearless and they transmit their joy to you openly.

How do you carry this excitement into Bring Children to the Snow?
For me this is natural continuation. Being a kids ski instructor I can relate to everything this project is doing for the Organisers. I hope to provide feedback and ideas that will assist other Organisers around the world.

How do you see the future of the project unfolding?
I see it in a positive way. We are in a growing phase and there is a lot of potential. The main challenge will be how to deal with so many Organisers and give them the support they need.

Finally what is your dream World Snow Day?
Tough questions (laughs). I would love a day where all the kids are offered the opportunity to try snow sports for free. This would include lift passes, equipment and lessons.
