First PLAY Day postponed
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Beirut, 10 March 2020 – Set to take place on 8. March 2020, FIS, Pat Burgener and Right To Play set out to bring 30 children growing up in Lebanon with various difficult backgrounds to Mzaar Ski Resort for a day of snow sports and other activities. The event, known as PLAY Day, was part of the larger Project PLAY which as well as the event will be releasing a documentary detailing the planning and execution of the Day. However due to the recent CORVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak in Lebanon, the first PLAY Day will be postponed to 2021.
FIS Bring Children to the Snow Coordinator Andrew Cholinski said “The Lebanese government have issued a directive calling off all events in Lebanon. We will follow this information.”
Pat Burgener added “Its very disappointing not to be able to share this very unique moment on snow with the kids. But safety comes always first. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason, so I am very confident that postponing was for the best”.
Philipp Zimmermann of Right to Play added "With a heavy heart we had to cancel this PLAY Day in the snow. For Right To Play child protection always comes first, so we had no other choice than to cancel this event for the sake of the children’s safety."
Looking ahead, the new date for PLAY Day is to be confirmed. As a result of postponement of the event release date of the documentary will also be postponed to October 2021.
